Seeing Behind Occlusions

چکیده
The location of objects in images is diicult owing to the view variance of geometric features but can be determined by developing view-insensitive descriptions of the intensities local to image points. View-insensitive descriptions are achieved in this work by describing points in terms of the responses of steerable lters at multiple scales. Owing to the use of multiple scales, the vector for each point is, for all practical purposes, unique, and thus can be easily matched to other instances of the point in other images. We show that this method can be extended to handle the case where the area near a point of interest is partially occluded. The method uses a description of the occluder in the form of a template that can be obtained easily via active vision systems using a method such as disparity ltering.

Insight, besides being one of the controversial issues in Mysticism, is seriously facing differences and contradictions in mystics' works. These differences are basically formed under the influence of differing views in Sufi sects. One type of insight is “seeing colored lights” which seem to be presented for the first time by the followers of Kubrawiyyah School in Islamic Mysticism....
متن کاملSeeing Beyond Occlusions (and other marvels of a finite lens aperture)
We present a novel algorithm to reconstruct the geometry and photometry of a scene with occlusions from a collection of defocused images. The presence of a finite lens aperture allows us to recover portions of the scene that would be occluded in a pin-hole projection, thus “uncovering” the occlusion. We estimate the shape of each object (a surface, including the occluding boundaries), and its r...
متن کاملNorthern bald ibises follow others' gaze into distant space but not behind barriers.
Gaze following is the ability to use the visual orientation of others as a trigger to look in the same direction. Thereby, animals may either align their head and eye orientation with others (gaze following into distant space) or may even reposition themselves to look behind barriers impairing their perception (geometrical gaze following). It has been proposed that these two different modes are...
متن کاملIllusory depth from moving subjective figures and neon colour spreading.
If a pattern of concentric circles, interrupted so as to produce the perception of a subjective bar extending from the centre to the periphery of the pattern, was slowly rotated in a plane perpendicular to the line of sight, observers reported seeing the bar slanted in depth and moving over complete and stationary concentric circles. When the interrupted concentric circles were completed by red...
